Trader Options
Whenever I try to take out any loans, the system tells me that taking out the loan would exceed my maximum loan value, even though I have never taken out a loan. Why is this?
  • Your group's instructor may have set the maximum loan amount to 0. This is often done when instructors want students to learn how to trade without taking out loans.

Instructor Options
What is "group news" and how do I use it?
  • Group news allows you to post messages that will appear on the trader page of all members of your group(s). In addition, you may choose to send a message to any number or combination of your groups.

Simply choose "New Group News Item" from the menu in the Instructor Area, choose the groups you'd like to send the news to, and type in a message.

The news will automatically be shown to each group member.

Trading
I have a contract queued to trade, but it hasn't been executed yet. Is there something wrong with the system?
  • Though it's possible that the system may have hiccuped and not executed your trade immediately, it would definitely have executed on the next trading day if that were the case. The problem here isn't really a "problem" per se. Some contracts are rather thinly traded (very low volume) and may go several days without trading. When this occurs, we do not get new prices for the contract. Real pit trades would not occur using several-day-old data, so FACTSim waits until a new price is sent for that contract.
Why are the option contracts all inactive?
  • Your group's instructor has turned off the ability to trade options contracts. This is often done to simplify trading for students.
I can only see contracts from certain exchanges on the open contract page, even though your system says it can trade on several exchanges. Why can't I see these other exchanges?
  • If you are a member of a group, the group's instructor may have limited trades to certain exchanges and contract types. This is often done to keep the game simpler for students.
